My 2020 Bucket List Destinations

With the end of 2019 rapidly approaching, I’ve been reflecting on all the amazing places I have travelled to this year. 2019 was mainly filled with domestic travel, exploring my home country of Australia as well as jetting off to Japan for two weeks. I managed to see Uluru for the first time, road trip along the Great Ocean Road, visit Kangaroo Island and snorkel the Great Barrier Reef.

However in 2020, I’m aiming to head overseas more and experience some of the countries I’ve been googling endlessly over the past 6 months. My list is long but I’ve narrowed it down to my top 5 bucket list destinations for 2020.

New York City

There are so many states in America I want to visit, but New York is number one. As an avid Gossip Girl fan and binge-watcher of F.R.I.E.N.DS, it is a destination that has always been on my bucket list. Getting lost in Central Park, admiring the bright lights of Times Square and walking the Brooklyn Bridge, there’s something fascinating about visiting the Big Apple. I have always wanted a white Christmas so perhaps a winter trip will be in store (providing I can brave the cold!).

The Greek Isles

Thanks to the internet (and very enticing travel deals) the Greek Isles have made their way onto my 2020 bucket list. Travelling to the islands would be a dream come true. Incredible coastlines, crystal clear water and amazing food. It sounds like the perfect summer getaway. I’ve always wanted to witness a famous Santorini sunset and explore the unique black sand beaches. And of course, try all of the delicious Greek food.

Iceland

Iceland was never on my bucket list until I came across a travel vlog from YouTuber Danielle Mansutti. It honestly blew me away. From the famous blue lagoon, to the stunning fjords and waterfalls, I have since become fascinated with Iceland and it’s natural beauty. For years I’ve wanted to see the Northen Lights, and Iceland is one of the best places to see them. I am definitely going to try and see Iceland this year (and perhaps take a flight up to the Arctic circle whilst I’m there!).

South Korea

I’ve always loved travelling in Asia. Initially, I was planning to go back to Japan next year for Cherry Blossom season. Until a friend suggested South Korea. 2 hours of research later, South Korea has made it onto my bucket list. Much like Japan, South Korea has Cherry Blossoms, historic villages, and incredible parklands. The nightlife and neon signs of Seoul remind me of being in Tokyo (which just happens to be my favourite city in the entire world) so South Korea is certainly a place I want to explore.

Tahiti

White sand beaches, calm blue oceans, overwater bungalows, as if anyone could say no to Tahiti. To me Tahiti screams relaxation, and that’s exactly the type of holiday I need. The ideal place to lay back in a hammock with a cocktail in hand. Or perhaps cruise around the Tahitian Islands onboard a sailing yacht. It may cost me a small fortune to travel there so if anyone wants to pack me in their suitcase, let me know!

So there you have it, my bucket list destinations for 2020. If you’ve travelled to any of these places, let me know! I’d love to hear your recommendations.
